Can I connect a hot and cold water supply to a cold fill washing machine using y connector?

Would this cause any damage to the machine? Can I connect a hot and cold water supply to a cold fill washing machine using y connector?
Can't see why you would want to do this, as your machine heats the water. You could just connect the hot hose,so that the machine has less to do. Only drawback is that the machine uses cold water to rinse.

You should be able to get a blank end as a replacement for the hot tap.Can I connect a hot and cold water supply to a cold fill washing machine using y connector?
A cold fill machine requires cold water ONLY, if you connect to a ';y '; you will short-circuit the water supply in your house, and cold water will force its way back to the storage tank in the loft and cause a permanent overflow.and NO hot water ever again !!!!!!! DON'T TRY IT

As far as the machine is concerned, feed with COLD only.

Use pliers to turn off the hot tap adjacent to the machine, if successful it should'nt leak. if unsuccessful employ a plumber to fit a new tap that does'nt leak.

Paul R has got it wrong., read what I have just said

LATER ';Y '; pieces were introduced so that a hot/cold machine could be connected to a cold supply ONLY without having to run a special hot to the machine.
clue is in your question...cold fill washing machine!!! don't mess with it.
it will not harm the machiene, but it does need just cold water for rinse.

so just connect the cold only!
Connect the cold and get a stop end for the hot, if you need it.
no it would not damage the machine as i have one on mine as well and every thing is prefect.
I can only suggest a holistic approach - you are going to have to work the thing so fix the tap at the same time. It will not damage the machine - but in these days of costs of heating - it may come back to bite you in the future. Replacing a tap is very easy - so as they say - just do it.
